A Brief Biography of The Poetry Box Founder:
Lynda K Robinson (aka: 'Merlynda') is a former Professional Speech Teacher, an LLAM and ALAM of LAMDA, a four-times Honours Medallist of Speech and Acting with LAMDA, a Member of The Poetry Society, The International StoryTelling Network, and a Full Member of EQUITY (Variety) - and is Fully DBS-Checked. She is an Award-Winning, Much-Published and Radio-Broadcast Verse-Fabulist, Love Poet, Children's Poet (aka: 'Merlynda Jelly-Jaws') - a published Short Story Author, a published and commissioned Art Author, a published and widely performed Monologuist, Scriptwriter, Lyricist and Songwriter. She is also the Founder of The Ventriloquist Club of Great Britain and conducts Workshops in Ventriloquism and Ventriloquist Characterisation/Voices and Duologue Scriptwriting.
Publications to date include:
4 Solo Poetry Collections, 1 Collection of Monologues & Speeches For Performers & Speakers (ACT! Alone - Published: GAPP), 3 Poetry Audio Books (CDs) and Poetry ChapBook Collections - and her poetry has been published in more than 45 Poetry Anthologies, to date. She is also the author of the 250,000 word Art Tutorial Course: 'Master The Art' commissioned and published by The Art Institute - and - a former Magazine Columnist with The Observer Series of Newspapers, based in England. Recitals, Performance, Speech & Singing Details:
She has been teaching Singing & Speech students - of all ages - for over 35 years - since the early 1980s having completed her studies with LAMDA and having successfully undertaken 'The Mastery' at The Actors Institute, London. Teaching Ventriloquism, Speech and Singing occasionally to private students, she also plays Piano, Keyboards, Soprano Saxophone and Melodica, and composes Children's, Folk, Satire and Romantic Songs, and instrumental/Ballet music, on her Baby Grand Piano.
She writes professional Poetry Book Reviews, judges Poetry Competitions and conducts Public Speaking, Poetry Recitation & Writing, Lyric Writing, Speech and Monologue Writing - and Songwriting Workshops - at Venues to suit - and from her home on the West Sussex/Hampshire border.
She is a Highly-Commended Songwriter/Composer (The WM Composers Award for Song and by the Judges of the BNMF) and 6 x times Semi-Finalist for her original Songs and Lyrics with The UKSC.
She has composed 5 Suites of Ballet Music for students (premiered at The EQ Festival of Dance, Ireland) - and over 100 Cabaret, Jazz, Musical Theatre and Light Operetta Songs - published and recorded, to date.
Invited Poets: Poets are Invited to Recite their own Poetry outdoors in the Garden at The Poetry Box by sending a maximum of 6 Poems they wish to recite live, in advance, to The Poetry Box.
The Invited Poet's material must be suitable for audiences of all ages and must not contain any material or language whatsoever which is likely to cause offence.
